Weekend Updates   3 comments

The weekend provided encouragement from having grandparents around that love our kids. There is some difficulty for GP having other people around because he is so aware of 1) their reactions to his screaming/pain episodes, and 2) his concern for them feeling uncomfortable. He definitely experienced both of these this weekend, but was still very glad to see them, as we all were!

Saturday included 8-10 epics and frequent rises of pain. His overall pain level went up to an 8 for a large portion of the day. Sunday was much better, relatively. He remained at a 7 all day with only 1 or 2 epics. We are continuing on with the herbs, and the Tegretol/Indocin.

We have asked for a referral to a pediatric neurosurgeon in Fontana, in addition to keeping our appointment with the Kaiser neurosurgeon in June. We believe that we need to talk to more than one or two doctors about GP.

Today, GP is at a 7. In the 3 hours that he has been awake, he has had 6 epic pain episodes, and 7 rises. They are intense. GP has a good attitude – and is always willing to describe the pain, the episode, or anything else I ask of him. I am thankful to have his willing spirit!

  3. Hi GP! Just want you to know that I think of you every day and pray for you whenever I think of you. I am sorry that you have been hovering around ‘7’ lately. But there IS a lot Biblical references to the number 7…so here’s a challenge for you! I want you to research all the references to that special number—so when you are at a ‘7’ you will have something to focus on instead of the pain! Your appointment is coming soon and it is my hope that they will find a way to take away all the pain. X’s and O’s to you!
